The most fashionable time of the year?

One of my favorite times of the year is without a doubt the Christmas holiday.

Come with me for just a second…

As a youth my mom & grandmother loved cooking. Especially for the holidays.

We celebrated & decorated for Christmas with all the vibes. It was a big deal in our home. Because of our creole roots Seafood Gumbo (among other dishes) was annually on the menu & now we still try to continue with the tradition.

Back then we’d ALWAYS get a huge flocked tree at least 6ft & decorate the house with fun Santa themed decor. (And although she never spoiled it for us we definitely knew at a young age it was our mom buying the gifts not Santa😂)

The nostalgic memories of my mom packing us in the car & with much anticipation having our noses pressed against the window driving about 15 minutes across town to Park Side District “aka” The Avenues in San Francisco. To witness all the mansions row after row lit up like literal WINTER WONDERLANDS!! Some even played music too.

My sisters & I would be in awe😍

In addition I’m a 70’s baby so we would dress up for the holidays back then.

& I must admit SOME of my fondest memories from my youth was the family time & absolutely dressing up for Christmas & NYE.

I’m talking a lot of frilly dresses, tights & lace socks, petty coats, gloves, berets & barrettes, peplum overcoats trimmed in fur & of course our little one inch patten leather church shoes, lol😁

Christmas Sundays…

My mom literally went all out & we LOVED IT! And it stuck with me.

Fast forward… I LIVE for fashion but holiday/winter fashion in particular.

Not only are company parties, fun house gatherings & amazing holiday banquets sometimes a great opportunity to dress up in your best glam or dapper after 5 attire but it also gives you a chance to pull out your wool coats, cashmere sweaters, leather capes/jackets & oh please let’s not forget our beloved ankle, combat, knee & thigh high boots. I love staying warm all while creating endless fly styles😉

……. For some reason during the Christmas/NYE Holidays people tend to be more festive & kind. (My opinion, my observation) And to be completely honest that may be the real reason it’s my favorite time of the year….

However winter styling & fashion is without a doubt top tier💯

Happy Holidays!!🥂)

Until the next blog.
